Pilot plant extracts ammonia from wastewater

Ulm University

Another research activity from the Thermal Process Engineering group through which we are successfully contributing to the protection of natural resources.
Ammonia contamination in aquatic environments must be avoided because, in addition to causing eutrophication and oxygen depletion, ammonia is also toxic to various aquatic organisms.
As part of a research project, my group, together with the wastewater treatment plant in Neu-Ulm, has developed a process for ammonia removal that is now being piloted directly at the treatment plant.
